Robber’s throat-silt body found in Naogaon

Naogaon: Police recovered the throat-silt body of the ring leader of a robber gang from Amantokhari area of Patnitala upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased was identified as Anwar Hossain Monnaf, 52, son of Jahir Uddin, a resident Koibtyokhanda village in Shihara union of the upazila and the ringleader of an inter-district robber gang, reports the UNB.

Md Mazharul Islam, officer-in-charge of Patnitala Police station, said locals spotted the throat-silt body on Anwar in the morning and informed police.

Later, police recovered the body.

Police suspected Monnaf was murdered following internal rivalry.

The OC said that Monnaf was arrested in 1995 and sentenced to life term jail in an arms case. Later, he was freed from jail in 2014.
