‘Freedom fighter’ killed in Gopalganj

Gopalganj: A freedom fighter was killed in an attack while trying to settle a dispute between a van driver and a group of youths at Munirkandi village in Muksudpur upazila on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Idris Sheikh, 70, reports the UNB.
Locals said some youths including Selim Matubbar and Al-Amin of the village attacked van driver Sabuj in the afternoon at one stage of altercation over cutting paddy.
As Idris obstructed the young men, they pushed his head on the wall, leaving him injured.
Later, the injured was taken to Rajoir upazila health complex of Madaripur district where doctors declared him dead.
Mahidul Islam, sub-inspector of Sindiaghat Police outpost, said that the freedom fighter was killed in a rival attack following a land related dispute.
On information, police recovered the body in the evening.
